Title: | Chemokine-controlled migration in lymphoid organogenesis and the systemic organization of immunity |
Creators Name: | Lipp, M. |
Abstract: | Lymphoid organ development, that takes place during embryogenesis and extends into the early postnatal period, is a complex process dependent on a coordinated interaction o:f cells of hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic origin. Homeostatic chemokines and their corresponding receptors are critical signaling molemles, which closely cooperate in the development o:f lymphoid argans and the maintenance of lymphoid tissue micro-architecture by guiding cell movements in the course of immune responses and in lymphoid sy:stem homeostasis. Chemokine receptors are differentially expressed on the cell surface of lymphocytes and dendritic cells depending of the stage of cellular differentiation and activation, thus allowing these cells to change their homing capacity and prospective traffic routes. |
