Abstract:	Isolated populations are important for mapping both monogenic and complex traits. We will discuss: 1. why isolated populations offer a unique opportunity for mapping projects; 2. the methods available and their selection; 3. the results accrued from isolated populations in mapping monogenic and complex traits thus far; 4. the conclusions that can be drawn for mapping studies in population isolates.
