Abstract:	Described is a method for identifying compounds which are capable of inhibiting mechanotransduction in neurons, compounds identified by such a method, pharmaceutical compounds containing the identified compounds and methods for treating pain. Also described is the use of stomatin domain-containing proteins for the identification of compounds which are capable of inhibiting mechanotransduction.
