Title:Endergonische Enzymreaktionen in Abhaengigkeit vom anoxygenen Energiepotential [The dependence of endergonic enzyme reactions on an anaerobic energy potential]
Creators Name:Windisch, F.
Abstract:An up to now unknown enzymatic way of anoxygenic energy formation was discovered in cells capable of aerobic fermentation (cancer and yeast cells). The observation refers to the anabiotically ascertained finding that the fermentation or glycolysis does not yield any endergonically useful energy. This led to the conclusion that fermenting cells able to multicly partially under anaerobic conditions must contain an anoxygenic energy potential. This could actually be shown in extracts of cancer and yeast cells which induced and supported endergonic enzyme reactions without the involvement of oxygen. The anoxygenic effect can be reversibly inhibited by 2,4-dinitrophenol.
