Abstract:Protein quality control systems protect cells from proteotoxicity caused by the accumulation of aberrantly folded polypeptides. The Rsp5 ubiquitin ligase (mammalian homologue Nedd4) is now identified as a major constituent of a clearance pathway that degrades misfolded cytosolic proteins after exposure to heat.
